Midnapore Lake Residents Association (MLRA)
Lake Midnapore is a private lake located in the beautiful community of Midnapore, Calgary, Alberta. The lake and park are for the exclusive use of the residents of Midnapore Lake and their guests.
The mission statement of the Midnapore Lake Residents Association is to enhance the quality of life of members and their guests by providing year round recreational opportunities in a safe and welcoming environment.
The creation of Lake Midnapore added on exciting new chapter to a community that was already rich in tradition and historic significance. Excavation of the lake took place between April 5 and July 31, 1976. A total of 1.5 million cubic yards were removed from the flat range land to create the 30 acre lake averaging 20 feet in depth and reaching 31 feet, and containing 165 million gallons of water. 300,000 cubic yards of earth were used to form the adjoining 55 foot high hill, the focal point of which is the waterfall over which 4,000 gallons of water per minute are circulated.
Midnapore Lake was developed by Keith Construction, which also developed several other lake communities in Calgary. The Midnapore Lake Residents Association (MLRA) is a not-for-profit association which owns, maintains and operates the facilities of the lake and park. Each residence is required to contribute to the assets of the MLRA each year to ensure the financial viability of the MLRA.
